DAB Thursday Experiment 006: Racing Icon Reimagined

The Return of a Racing Legend, Reimagined in Electric Form

Bimonthly on Thursday, DAB Motors reimagines what an electric motorcycle can be. Through the DAB Thursday Experiment, we explore the intersection of design and culture, crafting new visions that move beyond function.

This week’s chapter? Experimentation 006: Racing Icon. A bold reinterpretation of one of motorsport’s most iconic colour codes: light blue and orange.

A Colour Code That Shaped Motorsport History

The moment you see it, you feel it.

Light blue and orange — a duo immortalised by the legendary Ford GT40, a car that dominated endurance racing and cemented its visual identity in the hearts of motorsport fans forever.

At DAB, we don’t recreate nostalgia. We remix it with intent.

For us these colours symbolise performance and obsession. They are deeply rooted in petrol heritage but now, they ride again, this time on electric terms.

The DAB 1: A Canvas for Speed, Style, and Sustainability

Our reinterpretation of this iconic livery finds a new home: the DAB 1⍺, our street-focused electric motorcycle known for its sculpted lines and powerful minimalism.

  • 22.7 kW instant peak power
  • 395 Nm torque at the wheel
  • up to 150 km urban range
  • 72V recyclable French battery
  • 125 kg of pure agility

Finished with upcycled Airbus carbon fiber, Alcantara seat, and LED lighting, this isn’t just a tribute, it’s a sustainable EV built with purpose and crafted by hand in France.

DAB Thursday Experiment: Culture in Motion

What Is DAB Thursday Experiment?

Every Thursday, we transform DAB into a creative lab.

DAB Thursday Experiment is a weekly stage to imagine what a motorcycle could be, drawing from fashion, motorsport, art, and architecture to create culturally resonant, visually bold EVs.

Each vision is not for sale, but built to inspire.

DAB Motors: Creative Boldness in Motion

DAB Motors doesn't just build motorcycles, we imagine a future where mobility becomes a form of art, made for those who dare to live differently. Each model is a moving manifesto, a mechanical sculpture that breaks convention. Far from noise and excess, DAB turns silence into power, a quiet force with lasting impact.

More than a manufacturer, DAB is a cultural player. Our motorcycles reflect the identity of their rider, blending pure aesthetics, refined performance, and cutting-edge engineering. At the crossroads of craftsmanship and innovation, they embody a timeless vision where emotion matters more than superfluous tech.

Founded in 2018 by Simon Dabadie, designer and engineer, the brand was born from an obsession: to create the motorcycle no one dared to imagine. Acquired in 2023 and now part of the Peugeot Motocycles Groupe, DAB stands as a unique entity: an innovation lab, a design beacon, and a creative engine within the group.

Born in Bayonne, Simon’s unique approach elevated the motorcycle to a cultural object. His unique design language has caught the attention of global talent clients like Rosalía, Marcus Rashford, FKA Twigs, JR, and J Balvin, as well as fashion houses like Burberry and David Koma.

No noise. No gimmicks. Just beauty, function, and soul.

Produced at Peugeot Motocycles’ historic factory in Beaulieu-Mandeure, DAB bikes stand out for their rarity and radical aesthetics. This vision takes shape through two flagship models: the DAB 1α (urban minimalist supermoto) and the DAB 1αX (its scrambler sibling). Both are design manifestos and a new generation of electric motorcycles.

Beyond the products, DAB Motors plays a strategic role within the Peugeot Motocycles innovation ecosystem. Agile and daring, DAB paves new ground — technically, aesthetically, and culturally. Its breakthroughs in design and assembly are already informing processes across the group.

By redefining the standards of premium mobility, DAB puts emotion, identity, and design back at the center of the riding experience. With the DAB 1α and 1αX, the brand has one clear ambition: to reinvent the motorcycle as an object of expression, freedom, and desire.

Experience the Future

This experiment may not be for sale — but the DAB 1 is.
