Born in a Garage, Built for the Future
In 2016, in a small garage in Bayonne, South West France, a vision was born. Armed with just one computer, a 3D printer, and a Honda motorcycle, DAB Motors began as a personal project. Operating under the name Dab Design, founder Simon Dabadie worked as a 3D designer for global motorcycle brands like Yamaha, Roland Sands Design, Skully Systems, and Deus Ex Machina. In between client projects, he poured his energy into developing a lightweight motorcycle that would become the foundation of something bigger.
Making Custom Motorcycles Street-Legal
By September 2018, DAB Motors set out to disrupt the world of custom motorcycles. Modified bikes often expressed individuality—but came with legal headaches. DAB’s response? Design a fully street-legal, configurable, high-end production motorcycle that didn't need aftermarket upgrades to stand out.
The result: the LM-S (Lightweight Motorcycle – Street Legal), a bold reinterpretation of what modern street bikes could be—clean, compliant, and distinctively designed.
The Shift to Electric: A New Mission
By 2021, the mission evolved. Simon Dabadie became convinced that electric mobility was not just the future—it was the only future. Stricter environmental laws, combined with the growing eco-consciousness of younger generations, signaled the end of internal combustion engines.
DAB Motors made a commitment: to build electric vehicles that are desirable, emotional, and beautifully designed. While many e-motorcycles lacked soul, DAB sought to inject artistry, elegance, and high performance into electric mobility.
That vision came to life with the Concept-E.

Pushing the Limits with Burberry
Later in 2021, DAB Motors entered the world of high fashion. Adrian Ward Rees, VP of Burberry, proposed a radical idea: to build Burberry’s first-ever electric motorcycle. In just five months, DAB and Burberry co-created 20 ultra-limited Concept-E machines, merging British luxury with French innovation.
Directed by Riccardo Tisci, the collaboration reflected a shared ethos of craft, precision, and creative audacity—propelling DAB Motors to the forefront of design-driven mobility.

From Independent Vision to Industrial Scale
In 2023, the next evolution began. Peugeot Motocycles, one of France’s historic manufacturers, acquired a majority stake in DAB Motors. With Peugeot’s industrial muscle behind it, DAB could now scale production while retaining its soul.
The result: the DAB 1α. Designed in Bayonne and crafted in Beaulieu-Mandeure at the Peugeot factory, it offers premium design, industrial-grade quality, and 100% electric performance. It’s a motorcycle born from a garage—but built for global roads.
Trusted by Icons, Engineered for You
With global icons like J Balvin, FKA Twigs, Marcus Rashford, and Rosalía among its fans, DAB Motors has become more than a motorcycle brand. It’s a cultural statement. And after winning the Red Dot Design Award, it’s officially one of the most celebrated electric motorcycle makers in the world.
This isn’t about hype. It’s about creating the world’s most inspiring electric motorcycle: one that blends style, performance, sustainability—and soul.
